Comment:

I'm having a problem with MOST of the clients on my network not registering DNS "A" records on my server. DHCP and DNS are both running on the same Server 2008 box.

I have two Vista boxes which get a DHCP address fine then register their "PTR" record but no "A" record. I have another XP box which does the same thing. However, I have an Xbox 360 which does everything correctly (Get's IP and registers both "PTR" and "A" records).

Server is configured as a domain controller but I have not added any one to it becuase I'm still testing it. Also, I configured the DHCP DNS update credentials and added both that user account and the server to the DNSUpdateProxy security group.

Any one have any suggestions?

Any firewall running at those machines, that do not register A records on the DNS server.

BTW: Don't forget to check the Windows firewall at those PCs.

Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!
