I am trying to find a driver that will work with an old ATI Radeon 7000 PCI video card in a Dell SC440. I was able to get Server 2003 X64 to work fine but I think I am out of luck and it might be time to upgrade the card. The server is used as a basic desktop computer that I use to run virtual machines and learn different operating systems. I also have a Soundblaster Live card and lost the driver for that since the move to 2008 from 2003. If anyone has a recommendation on a good PCI or 1x PCIE video card to work in this server and be supported by Microsoft Windows Server 2008 I would appreciate it. The card does not need 3d acceleration, it just needs drivers for server 2008.

Just get the driver from creative's website and right click on the exe file and go to the compatibility tab and select windows XP service pack 2,you might be able to get it to work. Also sound is disabled by default in Windows 2008,you will have to jump a few hoops to enable it so you may not need a driver(just windows 2008 native one). I run Server 2008 on a 3 year old laptop and had to enable sound. Plus I had to enable the desktop experience and wireless through the features part of Server Manager.Google can be a good friend to you.

Don't get the driver from Creative, there drivers don't give the full capabilities of the sound card. Just search for ISO CD's for the Sound Card.

I believe most recent EVGA cards have Windows server 2008 driver support. You might want to consider those.

To fix the problem I bought an ATI 2400Pro PCI card and it is working great. I currently run windows server 2008 64bit without a hitch.
