I have 1 out of ~30 PC's running Win XP Pro SP1 that keeps getting a pop up window to sign on to proxy server. The msg says "Your HTTP proxy requires user authentication. Please enter the appropriate user name and password" It is signed on correctly and all setting appear to be the same as all other PC's that aren't having this problem. What am I missing?

you might try installing SP2, doublchecking your IE connection settings, and even you std nw settings to assure they are the same as the others. it'll end up being something simple

I had the same problem. The message stayed away after I uninstalled Bluetooth Desktop Search. If you don't have Bluetooth, it is anotherapplicatoin that is trying to get information from internet. To find this application:When the message appears, you can see in the running processes which process causes the message to appear.

Thanks,
Pretty sure Bluetooth isn't running, but I'll check the processes.

Msg showed up again. No new processes showed up. No bluetooth. Double checked IE & network settings. All ok. I agree, it's probably something simple. It usually is, but can't find it. Any other ideas?
