The company I work for has a server (Windows 2003) set up as a workgroup. In the workgroup there is a computer we will call Computer A. Some of the other computers in this workgroup have a mapped network drive to Computer A (they didn't want these files in this drive on the server for some reason???). However, not all of those computers who have a mapped network drive to Computer A should have write permissions. How do I allow some to have write permissions and deny write permissions to others? Thanks for you help in advance.

You create users on Computer A. You assign those users to the share on Computer A at what level of access you want them to have.

You don't set permissions by computer, you set permissions by user.

That's not completely true, if you want to be able to set permissions by computer, which is unlikely but still possible, you'll have to create a domain, you can then allow or deny permissions based on computers as well as groups and users.
