Workstations cannot browse server

Hello, Every once and a while a few workstations have problems browsing shares on a server. When the users tries to browse the share on the server, the workstation would stop responding for approx 5 min. Nothing seems to work during this time. After waiting, a window would pop up saying the server cannot be found. I can ping the server name and IP no problem. I can log on to the local server no problem. Nothing shows up in the event viewer. Everything starts working again after the server is rebooted
