Hi, i have an interl based server 2003 with web server and ftp server, it's a home server, not production :-)
i want to add 2 more computers to my network so that they will be ableto define me as their domain controller and load some of their defenitions and home dirs from my server.I don't have active directory, just the basic pack, is there a way for me to become a domain controller ? (does it needs LDAP or something like that ?, how do i set that up ? )
don't underestimatre the stupidity of a user...

To promote a Windows 2003 server to a domain controller, you need to run the dcpromo command.
Install Active Directory on Windows 2003 Server
For additional help, you may find me at ResourcePC.com

i ran on my server certificate services (CA) cause i have https server for the remote admin web interface.
Since it's just a home network, i will not turn to a REAL CA to buy a certificate... so i made a small certificate of my own, since i'm the one to accept it on each computer i vist anyway...Active directory will not install with certificate services ,for reasons i do not know, this is once of the reasons i'm asking of substitution...

You have to uninstall certificate services first. Your previous certificates will no longer be valid. After promotion, you can then reinstall certificate services.
