I want to install winfax 10.03 in server 2003 and use it as the host station. First question is that I can't get the printer to install. Second question is that automatic receive disables itself. I set up the program to auto receive after two ring and everything works fine. Then later I go back to the server and find that auto receive is no longer enabled. Symantec says they do not support installation on server edition software. Hope someone can help. Thanks

Thanks to a suggestion from Lofote I solved the printer driver installation problem. I had problems with the Winfax printer Driver since I last re-installed my SBS 2000 over 18 month ago. I just Upgraded to SBS 2003, and decided it was time to fix the problem. Disabling the "Kernel Mode Printer Driver Protection" allowed me to install my good trusty Talkworks 2.0, with WinFax 9, and it works perfectly.
As for your second problem, it may be related to user permissions, or you logging of. As far as I am aware Talkworks / Winfax is not a system service and always needs a user logged onto the server.

1.Try out old versions
2.Try "Active Fax". I think It is the best Client-Sided and Server-Sided fax software. I am still using in my corporate network. If you experience problems with Active-Fax client or server mail me. I am sure that u will be glad.

talkworks pro latest version works great and installs on 2003 server just fine, i have had no issues with it and it seems to work perfect!
most problems with it not auto answering your calls are modem initialization strings or hardware issues, check the event logs in the administrative tools to see if any info is there, and sometimes winfax/talkworks will tell you if there is a issue with the modem if there is another call that comes through and it tries to answer (it could be in the middle of a init string and didnt terminate it properly)
i have had these issues happen before, in windows XP, and windows 2000
also, right click winfax/talkworks controller icon in the tasktray and select auto answer, sometimes it turns off, but if you do it from there it normally will stay without problems
also, in windows nt, winfax/talkworks DOES load as a service, and i think it does work without a user logged on, but i would have to double check that (my server doesnt autologin but i swear its answered the phone for me while i was out of town)
hope this helps
