Hello,

I had a problem yesterday while installing the Critical Updates from Windows Update. The server itself is on a datafarm so the 2 updates downloaded in a flash, but then proceeded to take 4 hours to install (at which stage I cancelled them because I needed to let people back into the server). Is there any reason why it would take so long to do the actual install? The same update at home on my XP Pro box took about 45 seconds including the download. Is MS trying to contact my server via another port?? (there is a firewall between the server and the net). In the end I went to the individual KB articles and manually ran each patch Windows Update told me was critical.

Any suggestions on why Windows Update would have so much trouble?
