Reply: (edit)I'm using windows 2003 on a laptop without a hitch. In fact I've used just about every microsoft O/S on a laptop without problems. Laptops are getting to be as reliable and more widely used than in the past. reason: Study and work needs problems: none so far so long as you check for compatability issues

Reply: (edit)Running Windows Server 2003 on a laptop, I would recommand the Standard Edition. The Enterprise Edition is somewhat sluggish and the Web Edition does not seem to support wireless access. I have a standar copy running along with SQL Server 2000 Enterprise, VS.NET 2002 Enterprise Architect, Photoshop 7, Nero 6 Ultra, full install of Office XP Pro, and many other application/databse development software on my Dell Inspiron 8100 (1GHz) as my mobile development. It's fast and blows away any of the P4 with the same configuration.

Reply: (edit)Why do you say Enterprise Edition is sluggish? I have it running on my Inspiron 8200 and it seems great. I haven't tried Standard Edition. But I tweaked everything in Enterprise Edition and turned off services I didn't need. It blows away XP in my opinion.
