My windows 2003 server standard seems to go completely slow and unresponsive every couple of days. It gets to the point where everybodys PC goes slow and crashes. The server itself becomes that slow you cannot do anything on it. It has only started in the last couple of mnths and has gradually got worse. Could anybody give any advice or point me in the right direction to resolve it. I have run virus scans (none found), added memory, windows update but with no luck. Many Thanks

u need to monitor the server more closely. monitor both your network connections and your server processes to see where the bottleneck is coming from. could be something eating up your resources from time to time. i know we run Inoculate virus software and the new version would eat up the processor time to 100% at various intervals. we did not know until we watched it for awhile. setup some perf monitor or keep an eye on it. also, watch the network connections. use some kind of network monitor software. 3rd party software is best and check for high collision rates. even, easier try taking out the nic and reseating it or even replacing it with a new one from a respected nic company. also, maybe you want to look into using 2 nics and load balancing between the two. there are plenty of software for doing this out there.
