My home folders are on a windows 2003 DC. The home folders are contained in drive e.
In AD the home folder option for the user is set to connect L: \\servername\e$\username. A profile is not present.
This has been working great for 3 months. As of this week 1 user can no longer access their home directory. Drive L is not being mapped at login. If the user maps drive L manually it prompts for a password. Entering the users info such as domain\username does not work and the box just flashes. Nor can this user access their home directory from another computer. The connection can be made if the administrator credentials are supplied.
As a test I created a new user and mapped L: to \\servername\e$\test. The folder is created and all permissions are correct with the user having full control, but the new user can not access the folder nor is the drive mapped. I've looked through all the logs and can not find any problems that appear to be related.
We have not made any changes to the system within the last week. The last change to the system was the installation of sharepoint portal server on the machine hosting the home folders two weeks ago.
Any ideas what I'm missing?
Thanks for your help.
Paul

If they are using XP Pro then try to rejoin the domain. I ran into a similar problem with my XP machines that are hooked up to the 2003 Server.
My domain was: SAMPLE.local
I right-clicked onto my computer, properties, computer name - then click rename this computer.
In the domain box, remove the ".local" and hit enter. It will then ask you for a user/pw with permission to make the change, enter the server admin name and pw and it will say "welcome to blah blah domain" then ask you to restart-
Anyway, good luck -
"i woke up this morning and all of my stuff was stolen and replaced with exact duplicates."
