I am trying to install Windows Server 2003 on a brand new PC because our previous server got stolen when we were broken into. I have the installation CD but the serial number has long gone. Is there any way for me to retrieve it from the CD? I have tried various key finders but they all retrieve keys from EXISTING installations but because my server has been stolen I don't have an existing installation. Please help.

The key is usually affixed to the CD case on a sticker, it's not embedded in the CD anywhere that I know of. So it follows that a key retriever won't work on the CD.
Your best bet at this point in time is to call Microsoft and get a new key. You'll probably have to pay for it, but it shouldn't be as expensive as buying a whole new copy of 2003 server.
