I have a Win2k3 Std SP1 server that is currently receiving the following error when attempting to log into its console (or via RDP)
Windows Product Activation (error heading)
A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error code 0x80004005The error started to occur after we realised the C drive was down to 0 bytes free. I was able to map to the C drive remotely and clean up approx 20% of the drive space, but this error started to occur after we restarted the server.
I've Googled, and found from the MS site the following link, of which I have performed Workaround Method Two for the error code 0x80004005, with no success. (And yes, I know the article refers to XP, but I could not find anything for Win2k3).
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914232
Short of rebuilding the server, does anyone have any suggestions of what could be tried to resolve this?
NOTE - The server was built from a highly modified Volume License install source, which cannot be used to run repairs from (the install source boots into a scripted install process, similar to Ghosting an image of the OS onto the drive). Therefore, I cannot perform a System repair or install over the top from the original install media as it will blow away the existing partitions and re-create them
