I have 1 windows 2003 Server running IIS/Websites, Files, Some System processes.
I want to mirror this first server to another server with updated hardware(more memory, harddisk and processing power). Can I do this only with mirroring software and do I have to buy it. Is there any other way to do it?

Hi

You need one time mirroring/cloning solution or constant mirroring?
If you need one time use Acronis Echo server to clone your server to diff hardware:

If you need constant mirroring you will need Enterprise editions of Windows server 2003 to create cluster

Thanks

It is a one time mirroring solution. Both the servers are hosted by ISP and I do not have physical access to it but only complete remote access.

Would Acronis still work for me?

Thats a rather convoluted process as you will then need to copy the image to your location. Symantecs Backup Exec System Recovery or Acronis will do this for you whilst the system is live. Your only problem now is "now" you get a "very" large image over the internet to your location.

Note both support bare metal restores. This is a caveat that in my opinion is more agro than what its worth because of the dissimilar hard ware constraints and drivers required. Have fun!
