Hello
I need some help. My file server seems to lock up once a week for no reason. I check the windows log files but can't make anything out of it. I can't conect to it though logon or RDP into it. It just hangs there. My only choice it to perform a hard reboot on it. Is there a program out that can monitor the system right up to when it freezes, so that when I reboot the server , I can check the logs on it
Thanks in Advanced

The event viewer might show errors almost to the crash or the actual reason. Can't tell why you are unable to make anything of them as you didn't say. You might consider running it or performance monitor on another computer pointing to that machine? The actual way you set up performance monitor and how you read it might get complex. You sometimes have to know what causes what.See also dump logs and how to create them and read them.

Hi, do you still have this problem or did you find a solution?
We also have 2 fileservers Win2003SP1 with Storage Central and Symantec AV 10.0.2. On the first server (dell PE2650) the problem began one month ago. On the second server (dell PE2850, installed last week) the problems started today.
First the users can no longer connect to the shares. If we are able to access the server through RDP, we can try a reboot, but then the server stops with a grey screen and we have to restart with the power button. With RDP we als did some investigation but after some time we were only able to start task manager but cannot perform "end tasks". We cannot start any console or launch an application.
In logfiles, the are no errors.Hope to find a solution because it is happening more often than some weeks ago.
