I have a new Windows 2003 server. I want people to be able to print through this server. I have installed JetAdmin 3.42 (as I would do with a 2000 server) so I am able to select a HPJetDirect port when adding the printer. This works fine but for some reason I can't discover my HP Printers. I have tried adding the printer by selecting from a list (no results) and by defining the IP address but it tells it can't be found?
Does anyone have any ideas? Is JetAdmin 3.42 ok with Windows 2003 Server? Is my problem infact a networking issue? I can ping the printer from the server ok.

I am on the hunt as you are. I have a Hawking direct attaching print server that I am trying to decipher also. I have narrowed it down to the Windows 2003 security settings. The firewall is what is blocking my server from being able to communicate with the print server. I know because when I disable the Firewall the print server can be accessed from my win2k3 server. When I turn it back On it disappears. I have added the software for the print server to the exception list for the firewall but it still is blocking it somehow. So I would look into the firewall settings. Good Luck!

Hi there,
I overcame the problem using Web JetAdmin instead. It worked straight away when I installed it.
