Hey guys, got a major problem here. Got 3 servers in a stack, 2 is win2k3 servers and 1 is win2k. I am trying to access a share folder in win2k3 server from win2k and it is not working. I tried to access by going \\server2k3 from windows2k and I get the message 'Logon failure: user account restriction'. I am thinking its one of the policies in group policy on the win2k3 server Im trying to access in but I do not know which one it is, even if it is that at all! I made a workgroup in win2k and added the other two servers in FYI. Please help, thanks for lookin.

Forgot to mention that I am able to ping the win2k server from the win2k3 server. I tried typing in the 'ping' command in console dos prompt and i get a invalid batch file message or something. wouldn't let me do ipconfig /all to get the ip address either. Is there a service I have to enable to ping out from the win2k?

You are running peer to peer servers with no domain. GPO is a active directory aspect only but you aren't doing AD. A workgroup is not active directory.

if ping and other commands don't work its due to your path statement. Adjust your path to include the folders containing these utilities.

maybe time to pick up a book on AD/2000/2003?

Golly gee wilerkers everyone. Learn to Internet Search
