I have just recently setup a server in my home to play around with. I am using a strange setup because my roomate takes classes on-line and to make sure that he doesn't run into any downtime we are currently setup as follows: Cable modem to wireless router, wireless router to server server to switch to a XP machine. I have created the appropriate users and given them access to remote desktop and allowed the machines to have access to remote desktop. I can remote into each machine from the local server ie xp.atlantis.local and xserve.atlantis.local without issue. The problem comes when I try to access my server using dyn dns and remote desktop. If I go to a remote location and use remote desktop to something.homeip.net it gives me an error that it can't connect. The router has port forwarding enabled so that requests of UDP/TCP on port 3389 should go to ip address that is staticly assigned by the wireles router to 192.168.0.105 which is my server. I know that it is something with the server that is causing it because if I just setup my xp computer to receive a remote desktop connection from something.homeip.net and change the ip address that its port goes to it works without issue. ANY ideas would be much appreciated.

lifeatlantic, Not sure if you have found the answer to your question or not but I too am "playing" around with WS2003. I ran into the same problem you did... Could remote log into all my workstations but not the Server. I would not recommend doing this for security reasons but have you checked to make sure that you have the Server set up to allow remote logins? It is done the same way as the "remote" computers. I enabled it for a short period just to make sure it was working but then locked it out since it is my server. I have 2 desktops and a laptop running on my home network so wanted the server as secure as possible. I am just now getting to the point where I am looking into remote access via the web and hosting websites with it as well. Guess I get to do alot more reading. Hope this may have provided some help.
