i installed windows 2003 enterprise edition on a box that was previous running NT 4 and it does not connect to the internet.
able to ping itself, but when attempting to ping the gateway, requests time out.
when i plug same connection into my laptop running xp and change IP, DNS info, i am able to connect to the internet.

Is your NIC working? Recognized by Server 2003? In a command prompt run IPCONFIG and see if you show an ip address.
