Hi,

Does anybody have an idea about windows 2003 server map drive folder security permissions.

I have share folders in win 2003 that is running Apache tomcat instead of iis.No Active Directory. The windows 2003 server which i am using is member server.

I mapped drive folder of remote pc in windows 2003. I am using tomcat webserver in which we got customised application where it will create folder and text file in remote mapped drive for exampe we have given the map drive name as Z:\xyz. When i am trying to give the path of mapped drive in application using tomcat server it is displaying the path but whereas phyiscally when i go and check in map drive folder it is not creating folder and files. But the same is working when iam giving the local disk path for example c:\xyz. I tested this application in windows 2000 server and it is working fine whereas in windows 2003 it is giving problems.

When i am trying to give the path \\hostname\folder instead of z:\xyz it is creating folder and files from the application.

I Think i am missing security permission somewhere. Because windows 2003 is more secured than windows 2000. If you any ideas please help?

Thank you

You didn't mention how you're trying to map, via a command prompt or using the Map Network drive in windows explorer.

From a command prompt you use the following command/syntax:

net use z: \\servername\sharename

In the windows explorer you click on Tools >> Map Network Drive
Then you select the drive letter you wish to use and either type in the UNC path (\\servername\sharename) or you browse to the shared folder you wish to map to.

Hi,

I did all the changes whatever u have mentioned in previous mail. I am able to map the drive by using command mode or through explorer. But my problem is some what different. We are using tomcat web server and customized java application. When i am trying to give z:\ path in that application it will show that the file has been created but when i go and check z:\ from windows explorer the folder shows blank.

In windows 2003 only limited services are enabled and its high secured.

My query is how to give full access for map drive folder.

Thanks
