Hello

I have a small windows 2003 domain network in our office. Recently I noticed that none of the computer settings from my group policy is applying to the windows XP clients. However the User settings working fine. I am also getting the following event logs in client machines:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1058
Date: 07/12/2005
Time: 10:48:26
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: SHYJO

Description:
Windows cannot access the file gpt.ini for GPO CN={31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9},CN=Policies,CN=System,DC=curriculum. The file must be present at the location <\\curriculum\sysvol\curriculum\Policies\{31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}\gpt.ini>. (The network path was not found. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

And

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1030
Date: 07/12/2005
Time: 10:48:26
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: Shyjo
Description:
Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. A message that describes the reason for this was previously logged by the policy engine.

I am not getting any errors in the server. Also I found that the windows 2000 machines working fine. I have tried almost all solutions which I found in the Microsoft knowledge base regarding these event IDs but still no luck.

I don’t understand why these problem happening only to the computer settings section of the group policy.

Please help me to get rid from this error.

Thanks in advance. - Shyjo

Make sure the NETBios helper and DFS client services are running on the XP machines.
