Hi,
I do not know what went wrong with the Event Viewer, everytime I opened up Event Viewer/System, I got a dialogue box "The event log file is corrupt". When I right clicked at "system", "Restore Defaults", and
it worked again, but not for long, just for
a couple hours and dialogue box showed again. This only happened to "System" only,
not "Application", "Security", "DNS" and so on...
I did not have any single problem with my
previous windows 2003 server, p4 2.6/1gb,
my current server was fresh installed, not
migrated.
Any advice would be highly appreciated.vophuynh

Since the files are corrupt, try deleting them all and letting Event Viewer build new ones. You can find them in: C:\Windows\System32\config with the .evt extension and a descriptive filename (ex: SysEvent.evt)

Hi Curt R,
You meant clear all the corrupted files in
event viewer or physically go in the
c:\Windows\System32\config directory and
delete the file called "SysEvent.evt"?
Please confirm.Thanks,
vohuynh

Well, if you can clear them through event viewer itself give that try and see if it doesn't fix the problem. If it doesn't, or you can't, then yes, delete them in the folder via windows explorer.
