Windows 2003 Drops Connection

CPU/Ram: P3 2 gig

We are experiencing a connection problem with a server. Now and then it just drops out for a couple of minutes. But the strange thing is you can still ping the server

These are the symptoms
Can't see the mapped drives of the server
SQL database loses connection
Terminal Service sessions drop out

Any help would be much appreciated.

what do the event viewer logs say? sounds like a faulty nic.
