Hello,
I would like to connect a Win XP client to a Win 2003 server, because i would like to test how the file copy works from an XP client to a Win 2003 file server.
I have installed an Xp and a win 2003 server with Microsoft Virtual PC. For the win 2003 server I have added Domain / Active Directory / DNS server / File server roles.
For the XP and the windows 2003 server I have selecten 1 network card for NAT and a normal 3com network cardThe Ip settings for the XP:
ip: 192.168.131.67
netmask: 255.255.255.0
gw: 192.168.131.254dns server (static ip): 192.168.131.65
Windows 2003 server:
ip: 192.168.131.65
netmask: 255.255.255.0
gw: 192.168.131.254dns server (static ip): 127.0.0.1 (as the dns server setup suggested)
The firewall turned of for both OS.
My problem is that I can't ping 192.168.131.69 from the Windows 2003, so I can't join the XP client to the domain.
Can you help me ?

Basic Layer 1 layer 2 problem. Establish basic connectivity between both devices and report back. Are using the right cabling? Are both devices on the same physical segment/switch etc
