Hi,

I just recently installed my Windows 2003 evaluation software when I encountered this strange flashing of "Network Cable Unplugged". Initially, I installed the driver of my Netelligent 10/100 card which is embedded on my Compaq Proliant 1600 machine. Aside from the Win 2003 finding it not digitally signed. I also noticed the when I enable the network icon to appear on the taskbar it frequently flashes "Network Cable Unplugged". Eventhough I was able to browse the internet. But when I download huge file size the connectivity cuts off.

Can anybody tell me how to fix this flashing network icon status?

Regards

Hi,

I already ruled out the hardware problem. Because when I reinstall the server to Windows 2000 all systems are working. But when I upgrade to Windows 2003 this problem occur.

ok check the IRQ, the ACPI controller and maybe the kind of shared pci slots.

the IRQ can do conflict. take care that the networkadapter has his own IRQ.

if there is the ACPI nearly all pc cards get irq 9. so the networkadapter get is also. but with acpi is it still ok.
look then for problems with the serial port. wiht that i had problems. i deactive it, because i do not use it.

the pci slots are intern (on the mainboard) shared.
the first PCI slot is EVER shared with the upperst pci slot - so do not use it, if u dont need it.

take care that networkadapter, pci ide controller cards and scsi controller cards have do not pluged in shared ports.

hope we will solve the prob.
