Comment:

I am using a software program called Abacus Law 2003 on my Win2k3 server. Clients run this software program off a shared drive on the server. On some screens there is data missing in some fields. The only way I've found to correct this is by making everyone a member of the Domain Admin's group. I've tried every other group but nothing seems to work. I want to try to restrict the amount of user privledges. Unfortunately I don't have support for this software any longer. Does anyone have any suggestions? Something I can try? Thanks for your help.

did you search their knowledge base?

Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion. Abstinence training clearly isn't working.

thanks wanderer and jennifer for ur responses, abacus knowledge base is terrible, I can count how many topics there are. 74 of them. sorry if these are silly questions, but can I create my own security or built-in groups and set permissions, is it possilbe to edit the permissions on the Domain Users group. Or do u think I should be going a new direction? Thank u for ur time. :)

What are the permissions on the file share and did you make any changes to ntfs rights?

I would not make users admins...ever. I would start with a user assigned with full control to the share and start there.

for the folder everyone connects to 'Domain users' and 'Everyone' have Full Control in both Share permissions and ntfs.

I would look in the registry for this programs entries. Then right mouse on the keys and look at who has permissions.

I have been able to fix a bad app by applying users with all permissions to these keys.
