Comment:
I recently installed a W2k3 server and used the default sertup. It setup the default names and used a .local extenstion for the domain. The PC’s work find but 1 mac can’t connect to the network. Any ideas???
Does anyone know how I go about changing the .local domain? Will it cause problems with the PC’s as well?

It's not because of the .local that the mac won't connect. It is because of a Domain Control Policy. If your getting a SMB error -5000 (os X), or authentication method required by this server isn't available (os 9) Then that is definitley the problem. check out http://www.macwindows.com/ for a complete article on exactly what you have to do. Hope this helps.

I changed the Domain Policy permissions and re-booted. Still no luck. The error has now changed (-36) on OS X
