I would like someone who has access to a Win2003 server (or Win2000) to try to open as many IE windows (with google as the homepage) and Explorer windows. I was only able to open 37 IE and 16 Explorer on my WinXP before there were no more system resources. I would like to know what the limits are in a more "professional" OS.
PLEASE run this test and let me know what you find out. THANK YOU!
(I had Mac OSX users try this here and they immediately gave me results and even screenshots!) http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=211193#post211193

I would say the results will vary depending on HDD capacity and free space.
Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Well, I have tested this on WinXP and found this has nothing to do with RAM or HD space. I found a clear limit of opening a maximum of about 54 IE windows or 54 Explorer windows, or 204 Notepad windows. There was still plenty of physical RAM left and the swap file didn't increase in size. I took screenshots of the task manager statistics--I didn't see anything that would explain the limitation. I am going to create a page with the screenshots and hope someone can explain.
It appears that the more "complex" the program you open, the more "windows" it consumes. So I suppose a program like photoshop would consume maybe 10 or 15 IE/Explorer windows for itself.
For me, this reveals a serious multitasking and dissapointing limitation in WindowsXP.
I really would like results for win 2000 or 2003 server, but it looks like I'm going to have to run the tests myself, unless someone wants to volunteer.
