Hello there, I'm having terrible crash issues with my work server. It is brand new & we use it at work for files sharing, printing & receiving email. However...every so often (a matter of weeks) the server crashes because of 'physical memory dump' and I have to install everything from stratch & restore the backup. Am I doing something wrong to trigger this system error? Any help would be appricated

Thanks

Hi
First of all thanks for the quick response. I've looked at the event log and theres nothing that standing out to me about what is causing the problem. What I have running on it at all times is outlook express, todays crash occured when I updated the server via automatic updates from microsoft. For some reason the update wasn't installing correctly so I thought I'd restart the server to fix this but thats when I got the 'physical memory dump error'. It said something about 'this could have been casued by new hardware installed' but no hardware has been added???

Thanks

two things to check next, look in device manager and see if there are any yellow exclamation marks to the left of any hardware and second, if you have more than one DIMM (Ram)installed, remove one and see if it crashes, if it does, swap it and try it that way.

If none of this resolves it, remove all hardware besides video and NIC. If you only have video and NIC, update/change the driver that each is using.

Hello,

256mb Is really not enough i found 512mb not enough im now running 1.5gb and that's without ISA installed. You should really be going for at least 1GB to allow for a stable sbs system!

Thanks
