I had windows 2000 on my computer. I didn't like it so i decided to go to Windows Xp Pro. I put the CD in the drive change to first boot and it worked fine... After it reformated it had to restart of course but when it was restarting it self it says some sort of error. Something like can't find OS. I then try restarting again. Same thing. Now my computer wont even reconise my CD-ROM. It says CD-ROM...NOT FOUND. all my cables jumpers are all correct. I was wondering if there was something you can help me on.

Might try to do a cold reboot. Completely power down and remove power plug. Then push the power button. See if the maker of the computer has information on how to reset the bios. Sometimes a jumper clears the bios and you can let it re-find the devices or correct them. It may be that you should update your bios anyway. It may be that your bios software has become defective and an update may help that. Hope that helps. You might also put that question in hardware forum?

I have seen this many times :-)
There is a bug in Windows XP setup where installtion looses it CD rom drives and can not continue as it does not hace access to the installtion files.
There is a technet article on this, but I was unable to track it down as you did not post the error.
If you goto technet.com and enter part of the actuall error an article will pop up.
If I remember you make a change to to the registry to re-pick up the drives.
Super Play
P.S I have the article bookmarked on my works PC, If I remember I will post the link
