What is child domain??

Sir,

1. I want to know about child domain..... why we make this and what is the advantage/effect of child domain over network.....
2. Is child domain just a separate domain nothing else??? And can i access the domain through child domain and create user in dc...??

3. And how it is different from a DC and ADc....

Plz i know there are alot of article on this topic over net......but i want to clear my concept in simple wording....

Child domain lets you setup a subset of users and administration limited to the sub domain. Also lets a upper level administrator control all the child domains.

For example you have 10 offices, you want the local it staff at each office to control their own offices but dont want them to be able to edit the HQ office or other branc offices.

You make the HQ the parent domain and each branch office a sub domain.
