I need some feedback on whether it is possible to deny copy permission in a folder in w2k3 se O.S. I need that users can only view the contents of a folder, but not copy or edit it.

Thanks in advance.

If by "view the contents of" you mean "list of files," then yes, it is possible.

If by "view the contents of" you mean "able to read and use the files in the folder," then no, it is not possible.

If you open the ACL on the share(s) in question and go into the Advanced Permissions, you can then have more granular control over what users can and can't do.

I recommend you use groups and apply the perm's to groups (putting the users into the groups). This is a lot less time consuming than doing it on a user-by-user basis.
