I have a VPN user (VISTA) who connects to our Windows 2003 server . No problem accessing shared drives on the server and can map them too.

Now we have a data folder which MUST reside
on an XP Pro machine. Local users have no
problem mapping this drive.

When he connects to the VPN, he cannot
map a drive to that folder, even using the
"Connect using a different username and
password method.

Is there a trick to this? Can it be done? I'm a
novice at VPN's - can get them to connect but
thats about it. Appreciate any help!

If this is a RRAS vpn you have the choice to just the server or server and network. Appears this is configured just for the server.

How are you mapping the drives. Are you using DNS names like...

\\SERVER\Directory

or IP address like...

\\10.10.10.10\Directory

Try using the servers IP address insted of the FQDN because DNS traffic does not always flow through the VPN connection but IP address will always work.
