VPN Failing with 806 Error. I have a VPN Server sitting behind a firewall (Dlink DI-424). If I connect using the local IP of the second NIC which the VPN service is linked to it connects fine. However from outside the connection get to verifying username and password and finally fails with an 806 error.
I did try the tools from the windows resource kit, pptpclnt.exe and the server one, and the messages made it through indicating that my dlink does allow GRE packets? Also pptp passthrough is allowed on the firewall, and as I can connect locally it looks like the dns is working. What does that leave me with in way of diagnosing an error?
Does my testing with the pptp command line tools from windows resource tools confirm for certain that the error is not GRE packets?

Actually upon using the resource tools again I note that the initial message gets through but the GRE packets do not. Pass through is ticked on my firewall. What can I do?

Have you told your firewall not only to let those packages through, but also where to deliver these packages? (IP)
