using adprep to add w2k3 domain

Comment:
I want to add a W2k3 server to an existing active directory on a w2k0 server. I have run the active directory installation on the w2k3 to add a domain to an existing forest. It fails because it wants me to run adprep first. Where do I run the adprep program, and which version 2k3 or 2k0 do I use on which machine? Any help gratefully received.

If you just want to add a 2003 server to your Windows 2000 domain, you don't need to run adprep. If you are trying to add a 2003 DC to an existing 2000 domain, then that is a different story. Try to be more clear in what you are asking. If you want to add a 2003 DC to a 2000 domain, then you must run adprep and forest prep on the windows 2000 dc acting as pdc emulator. Read up on how to do this, don't just jump into it. It's not difficult, just make sure you do it correctly and that your are comfortable with the ramifications of doing it.
