I recently installed Windows 2003 Server Enterprise on my newly bought computer. The computer have 4 USB 2.0 ports but none of them seem to work in this OS. It doesn't react to appliances connected to the ports. Is this a known problem in 2003 Server and if so, how do I solve it?

I can't post any more links but on the MS web site you can find "USB 2.0 and Windows Updated: January 13, 2003".
It is the scoop on what Microsoft knows about USB. Basically is says that EHCI is supported and more specifically with the NEC usb chipset. That chipset will downlevel to 1.1 with onboard internal chip support. USB2.0 and 1.1 are routed internally.
Now your problem might be; An untested driver. Unsupported device Or sometimes in 2003 you have to manually find the hardware with the wizard and the inf file located by hand.
I suspect one or the other is the problem. 2003 is supposed to support USB 2.0
