Comment:

i am providing internet service through my windows NT 4.0 server, i am running windows NT 4.0 server with microsoft proxy server 2.0, NT option pack, service pack 5. someone told me to upgrade it to windows 2003 server. i m confused how to do it, around 60 client computers (windows 98, XP, 2000 professional) are attached to the NT server. all of them have different IP addresses n they log on to the server to get access to the internet what should i do?

i have got a new hard drive with me, after loading 2003 server on it what should i do to attach all the 60 PCs to it as clients so that internet should work on them, if someone get my message please help me i really want to switch to a better server....

please help
thanks in anticipation

I would not upgrade anything unless you have plan's of upgrading all your client computer to atleast 2000 pro.

I might add that upgrading from NT4.0 to 2003 server (or even 2000) requires a certain amount of knowledge and is not a simple task.

If you're bound and determined that you really need to do this (I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it") do a lot of research on 'migrating from NT 4.0 to 2003' before you even start attempting the migration. Then, get another server you can to use as a test bed, copy your existing NT server setup to it and go through the migration process to iron out the bugs.
