I'm in the process of converting a peer-to-peer network over to a standard client-server network. I ran dcpromo to set up AD on the server, and midway through, experienced a hardware failure that resulted in the server losing power. After it booted back up, I am unable to log in to the system. I've tried every account/password combination that I know, including the default Administrator account, and every time I get the following error message:
"The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again. Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case."
I am certain that the username and passwords I'm using are correct.
There is a fair bit of data stored locally on the server at the moment that I don't want to lose. How can I get logged back in?

You were doing a conversion without a backup???
Your install is corrupt. I don't believe even a repair install would fix this. You should do a new install that overwrites the old install.
Data will remain [don't wipe and format of course] assuming the data does not reside in a windows OS folder but any installed apps will have to be reinstalled.
Might want to connect a UPS while doing your dcpromo
