I have a client with a Win 2003 Server PDC and we are unable to log into it. I have tried all the users I can think of in AD and none of them work. We are unable to connect to any shared folders, printer or log in any of our PC's to the domain. If I had to guess I would say that Active Directory is hosed but I am open to any other thoughts. If in fact it is AD that is causing the issue can someone tell me how to go about fixing this issue. We do have some good backups of the important info including system state. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going onsite tomorrow and could really use some help. Thank You all for your time...

Can you access the computer over the network using Computer Management?
What type of errors are being generated?

Thanks for the reply Jennifer but I am not really sure what you mean by accessing the computer via Computer Management over the network. I can tell you that not one of the 22 users that are set up in AD can get me logged into the server. The server is currently sitting at the log in screen as it does when you boot up and no matter what username I try it tells me that the password is incorrect (And yes, I have checked caps lock…lol). Also I am not getting any type of error at all, just the password incorrect message. In addition, the server’s DHCP server does not appear to be giving out IP’s any longer and nobody can access the shares on the server. I went ahead and enabled a DHCP server on my router for the meantime so that the client can get online and do some work.
Again if anyone has any ideas of what went wrong and what I need to do to fix it I would be very grateful.
Thank You!!!

One more thing that I wanted to mention is that the server is running two applications, each running on their own database and the client PC's are still able to access these apps. Therefore the server must be in a state where the services have started for these DB's. I am very curious as to how these services started as they both use the administrator account to run. Just thought Id throw that in there for you all to ponder... Thanks Again...

Right-Click My Computer and click Manage, then, right click Computer Management (Local) and select Connect to another computer. Then type in the server's name. That will bring up the Computer Management window for that computer.
That will allow you to reset the Local Default Admin password so that you can at least login locally.
