Reply: (edit)It's probably a permissions issue. Take ownership of the files/folders and then attempt the delete. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)I have the same problem with some PDF's as well. We are able to open the file, and if I take ownership of the file I still can't delete because of the message; "can not delete file is in use by other user or program". We are able to delete them after rebooting the file server. It must realize the lame application that has generated the file has released it. Remco: If I come across a fix, I'll try to remember to share it with you. Please do the same if not provided in this forum.

Reply: (edit)I also have this problem, and am unable to edit files. I cant do so remotely (Netbios) or directly on the server. I seemed to try everything. Whats worse is that this problem seems to persist after I fix it (I dont know how to fix it but sometimes I get lucky.) Ive tried everything, I just need simple file access with a login name and password to the other computers. All computers log in under the same name, and the user I log into has administration rights. Im frustrated beyond beleif. what is going on with the file permissions of 2003? The help documents are no help, and Ive searched far and wide for an answer on google. I dont know the exact nature of this problem so the situation gets worse
