Im using Win 2k3 Server and I find that there are always some 7-9 svchost.exe running in the background. It shows up in the process list and Im really not sure if all are required. Is this normal for 2k3 Server or is there something wrong ? Not infected with Blaster or Sasser but I dont know abt others. Im using AVG Free Edition.

it is normal for many instances to be running, ms proxy for example relies on svchost. if you go into the system services > start > run > services.msc

look under each dependancy for each item, you will see that lass and svchoust are the most common and that many services need it, so dont end any.

if your certain blaster isnt present then you will be fine.

Open the command prompt and run this command. It will tell you what is in each svchost.exe.

tasklist /svc

Hope this helps,
