Does anybody know how can I remove a license from a Terminal Server?
I don't want to remove the license server I just want to remove a specific license account from the license server to use that license for another computer. when I go to Terminal Services licensing Tool in Windows I only get the option to diactivate the licensing server.

thanks,

Steve

You can't. You can call MS and reissue the licenses, or if you have SP 3 or later on it, you can wait until the license is tombstoned and removed.

Do you think that changing the license type from Per device to Per user will solve the problem? Also is it even worth doing?

Thanks,

There's a way to do it in the registry, but I wouldn't touch it. Who cares? There really is no limit to TS cals if you think about it. Because 2003 issues an unlimited amount of temp cals for up to 90 days, you continue to work as usual and any temporary pc's that have taken up a cal simply drop off after expiration, as Glen notes. Any regular pc's would renew their cal before the 90 days are up and if they can grab one from the pool you purchased, then great. But if not, they will grab one from the temp cal pool.
