Hello, I am not sure where to post it, but since it has to do with Terminal Services built into Windows XP/2003, I am posting it here, but it has to do with small gadgets as well.

I have a terminal server opened out to the internet which means I log into my domain from anywhere. Now, is there a gadget, like and ipod, i touch, mp3 player, mp4 player or even a cell phone (With WiFi), windows pocket pc or linux doesn't matter, which can act as a terminal client which allows me to type in the computer name/ip or website/internet ip and then access any remote desktop or terminal server?

The reason I want to do this is because, I don't like carrying a big laptop around just to check email or look at my computer from remote, I rather that be all in one gadget and I don't want to use GoToMyPc or whatever to setup my computer to be accessible through user-friendly software for a gadget, I want to do it all myself using the magic of RDP!

Your "gadget" would have to be able to pick up internet where ever it is, establish a vpn connection to your TS server. authenicate and connect.

Good luck with that.

You would be better off checking your mail via the internet and the isp's web page and/or setup a vpn router at home and forward the rdp port to your pc.

Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search

See the business PDA's from HP. Dell had one that would sort of work. See the mini how-to's on vpn windows mobile. They already have a rdp client but they call it terminal services. I have used it but the screen is so small.

You could actually get an EEEpc to do that also. I have seen some small XP/Vista laptops that are the size of paperback books for about $600.

They also make rugged larger pda out there. Also tablets are still around.

I guess you could setup a https server for remote desktop web connection too. Not sure if pda would work on it though.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Dude just buy a windows smartphone and be done with it. "Gadgets" such as mp3 players etc etc dont have terminal server clients built into them natively let alone access to the internet. A smartphone providing its a WINDOWS smartphone will give you ALL that you want right out of the box and wont cost you much more than the contract for the phone.
