Comment:

I've had a Win2k3 server running w/o problems for over a year. Now all of a sudden it gives me a lot of problems:

I can't access anything on inet, neither my firewall @ 192.168.0.1. I can ping my workstation (@ ..0.4) but not my fw. I can access my workstation via NetBIOS but not thru TCPIP. Here's a few scenarios to describe it better:

@workstation:
Ping to server at 192.168.0.2 - OK
Ping to firewall at 192.168.0.1 - OK
I can access internet from here.

@server:
Ping to workstation at 192.168.0.4 - OK
Ping to firewall at 192.168.0.1 - FAILS
I can't access internet from here. If I try to access a network share on my workstation thru \\workstation it works fine, but if i try \\192.168.04 it won't work.

Any ideas what this could be? The wierd thing is that it happened before and then went away.

ADSL firewall & router @ 192.168.0.1 Dlink Di-624+ acts as gateway to inet.
Server roles are fileserver, DNS server and Exchange server.

All help appreciated.

Install the support tools for 2003 and run the following...

netdiag /test:winsock

Does it show any failures?

All the signs that your firewall router died.
If you connect a laptop/pc directly to the modem [disconnect the router] does internet work?

If so replace the firewall router.

I can ping and access the firewall from my workstations. But not from the server. I'm going to try the netdiagnostics.. If I find it :o

The problem WAS related to the firewall. After disabling wlan and closed some open portrages, the box is running fine again.
