Reading a thread here on Norton Antivirus 2002, I follow the suggestion to run Tweak NT to fool System it was a workstation. Nevertheless, When system rebooted, I could not neither start nor restore the system. I guess that it may work with standard edition but not with Enterprise edition.

I hope this might be helpfull

Why are u even using TweakNT? It is ONLY for NT(At least i think it is). Use this site to convert 2k3 to a workstation.

Yes, I'm that guy, but "to convert into a workstation" is only in general terms. My problem is that despite I have done all amendments "to use Win2k3 as a workstation" some programs like Norton Antivirus 2003 cannot be installed.

I have read a message in a thread below saying that with Tweak Nt it is possible to treak system to believe it's a workstation and after that install Norton antivirus, but it does not work at all.

Regards

ok, tweak NT is part of the guides conversion at msfn, it is their way to make normal antivirus progs work.(http://www.msfn.org/win2k3/tweaknt.htm)

and i just got it to work for me with NAV, just wondering, did you use it on the corperate version of the 2003 enterprise? because if you did you will not be able to re enter windows (unless you go to safe mode, then once your in run tweaknt right away to switch it back)
if you are using a corp version, you may want to go try getting a normal enterprise edition.

hope that helped.

ok, forgot to say this before, but after installing norton 203 retial (not pro) i used tweaknt to switch it back to server 2003, and rebooted. NAV still seems to work fine. im guessing it only had a block on installing on server versions, not running.

Thanks Chris

I have noticed that you say "workstation" but the tweak nt that I have applied only had two options
In the left side Windows XP Pro or Home
In the right side The four known versions of Windows 2003 server.

Is it possible that the tweak NT is another version. In that case could you tell us the link for download?

Thank you

heh, sorry when i said workstation i was reffering the the pro or home option.

so just set it to pro or home (i used pro) and you should be able to install NAV 2002 or 2003 (as long as its not the professional version of the antivirus software)

you can even change back to the server 2003 settings (just choose the enterprise option on the right side of tweak nt) after instalation, but dont quote me on that, it only appeared to be fine, i havent really extensivily tested it or anything, but rember, it cant be set to the home or pro setting if you plan to auto update, it will always show no updates available for it. so if you keep it in the mock windows XP Pro setting, then switch back for a few min to updrade, then switch back.

hope that rambling helped

Thanks Chris.

The problem is that as soon as I run Tweak NT I could not restart windows. In fact I had to install a fresh o.s. , but I will try with Pro XP option, but I am saving a zip file of windows and other system folders in case that system cannot restart, i will unzip folders from another partition with Boot Magic utility.

I guess the problem is in the W2k3 version. Mine is not retail. In the MSFN website says only for retail versions.
