I have Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 SP2 Edition and I installed today security updates for the system from Microsoft and after the required restart, the server keeps showing blue screen with stop error. Error is: BCCode: 0886 OSVer: 5_2_3790 SP: 2_0 Product: 274_3
It keeps showing the blue screen all of a sudden every 20 minutes or so. How can I restore the system to be the same as it was before the update as there might be some driver conflict? I looked for System Restore tool but it does not have one. I tried F8 and went to Advanced Menu and then selected Last Known Good Configuration option but still the same problem occurs. What else can I do? I do not want to have to restore the whole image of the drive.

Well all you should have to restore is the system state.
Usually Microsoft Codes are very good and Googleable. Are you sure this is the exact error word for word? I had a problem similar to this a while back and I Google the exact error and got Microsoft page on how to fix it. It was a swap file threshold bug which required some simple registry fixes. I had to boot into Safe Mode to do this.
Have you tried booting into safe mode then going to the add remove programs and rolling back the updates?

No, I have not tried Safe Mode yet. How do you roll back updates from Add/Remove programs? Is the update in the list of all programs and I just uninstall it or what?
Currently, I'm running a memory test with memtest86 to make sure that there are no problems with memory. Then, I will do chkdsk. If that goes without problems, then I will try removing the last update. I'm pretty sure it's the update causing the problem because after I installed it and restarted the system, the stop error started showing up.

Dude you really should not be messing with Windows Server unless you know what you are doing. Is this a production box or is it just a test box that you are trying to learn on?
To rollback an update goto Add Remove Programs. Then check the check box that says "Show Updates". Sort the updates by date and remove the latest ones. They will probably all be at the bottom.

Don't worry. I know what I'm doing. I just have not worked on the server for a while and forgot how to do some things. I uninstalled the latest updates and everything is back to normal for the last 7 hours. I also tested the memory and the disk, and no errors were reported. Now, I just need to backup the system state and see if there are any driver updates for my devices before trying to install the updates again. Thank you for your help ace_omega.
