For all i know, this ports are "stealthed", and this on a clean installed XP, with NO firewall, i find this odd, as i clearly have specifyed over and over, that the connection WE are paying for, are completly unfilterd. Is there anyone that has any ideas aas to if any of thease ports usualy are blocked / stealthed by Microsoft default?
69 / tftp
135 / epmap
137-139 / NETbios-ns/dgm/ssn
445 / microsoft-dsIf a port aint localy stealthed, that would mean the ISP is blocking it, nad that is agenst what they say...
This thread ties to my previues one about sharing a network folder, but i posted it freash since its a bit different info im looking for.ANY ideas even bad once, apreciated...
B!

you'll probably find ISP blocks NetBIOS and 445 because its unneccesary traffic for their network, most ISPs do this...I would suggest a VPN if you need unrestricted access to a remote computer over the internet.

I have to second stu... a VPN is definitely the way to go. MS makes it so easy to set up, its almost a crime not to.
If this is not an option for some reason (and I can't imagine why it would be), you can share out your files through a password protected IIS folder. Some people would argue that this is not really secure, but neither is leaving those ports open to the internet.
Best of luck to you.
