srv 2003 read only folder settings

Hi
I'm testing windows server 2003, and find that no matter what I do the default for all folders under the root are set to read only. If I uncheck this, it just changes itself back next time I look at the properties. Does anybody know how to get around this?
Summary: I have also seen this. When you click properties of a folder on 2003 server the read-only box is ticked. Ignore this!!!!! Set the permissions though the security tab. Super Play ...
