Special Character in Domain Name

My older OS was NT4 with SP6, and my domain name was PEHNOF.ORG .Because there is a dot in the domain name, I was scary to make an upgrade to WIN2K3.
So, I made a test first. I made an inplace upgrade and, everything worked fine.
Now my question is: Is there any danger to continue to run WIN2K3 with this domain name with a dot inside? I know that on WIN2K3 special characters are not allowed in the domain name.
