Hi there, i got my system configurated as Workstation Pro and it takes a lot starting up, here it is:
-while the 'win xp pro'logo is loading = 23 sec
- then appears a black screen (almost 40 secs) don't know what this is!
-then between the gray screen and the CTRL-ALT-DEL logon prompt = 30 secI don't know if it's an ok time, but it seems slow for an OS compared in many websites with Linux in its speed
either don't know why being Server 2003, when chose Workstation Pro, makes the start-up logo as Win XP Pro
pls help, thnx alot

With this server, what services do you have running?
Is it a DC? & do you have AD setup on this server?
All take a while to start.Does it work normally once up? What is the spec of the server, ie Memory, & cpu?
All could be a factor here.
But that sort of time for the logon prompt is ok.

hi, and thnx for answering
i don't have any server running, i just installed this OS being the newest of Microsoft so i use it just like Win 98, Win 2K3 or XP
when i installed it, i choose Workstation Pro, between a series of options like this:1. Workstation
a) Home Edition
b) Pro
c) Tablet PC
d) Media Center2. Server
a) Web (BLA)
b) Standard (STD)
c) Enterprise/Advanced (ADS)
d) Datacenter (DTC)that's why i ask if it's ok taking that long to start, i'm using it just like XP
and the Black Screen i mentioned is a weird thing 'cos the loading light shows none activity at that time
